The Last Post - 2015

Room 5 on their last day of 2015
Another school year is over. It has been full of lots of exciting things and new learning. What an amazing group of confident, connected, actively involved learners these children are.
They've also been great teachers - of me as well as of each other.
Thank you for the privilege of teaching your children - my last class at Christ the King.
I will miss them.
Thank you, too, for your support throughout the year and for all the lovely gifts I have received.
I have been truly spoilt.

Have a happy and holy Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday.

This morning we sang an early 'Happy Birthday' to Harriet, our only Christmas holiday birthday. Have a great day on the 20th and enjoy being 8.

Term 4 Week 10 - Year 3 Graduation Day

This morning we attended a graduation ceremony for the Year 3s. This was a special time when the Year 2s prayed for the Year 3s, the Year 3s prayed for their parents and we sang 'In God's Circle of Love' before the Junior School leaders, Kate and Joe, handed the leadership mantle onto two Year 2s.  Each Year 3 child was then presented with a special certificate to mark the end of their Junior School days. Morning tea followed - thanks for all the yummy food.
Parents, thank you for attending today's ceremony and for all your support this year.

The Year 2s learnt about static electricity this morning. We rubbed a balloon on a polar fleece then held it near our heads. The girls found that their hair was attracted to the balloon and stood up on end. The boys found that their hair was too short to stand up on end.
You will have to look closely at these photos to see the balloon attracting the hair.

Player of the Day

Last night Bridget was named 'Player of the Day' for her Touch Rugby team. Congratulations Bridget.

Gabrielle

Today we participated in Benediction. This was a new experience for us, but as we have been used to meditating we were able to sit quietly in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Before we went to church for Benediction Alistar brought the monstrance to our classroom so we could look at it and hold it. Alistar also explained how and why it is used.

Only Year 3s have speaking parts, but the Year 2s have all taken the parts of the Room 4 Year 3s so we can practise in class. The Year 3s need to learn their lines and who they speak after. The scripts MUST be at school each day so we can practise. Please help your child learn their lines and remind them to put their script into their reading folder to bring to school. Year 2s need their script each day, but do not need to learn their lines.

On Friday we will be leading the school assembly. This will start at 12md in the school hall. Everyone is welcome to join us.
