Happy Birthday

Today Jacky turned 8. We sang 'Happy Birthday' and wished Jacky all the best as an 8 year old.

Gabrielle has been working on her typing. Today she received a Dance Mat Typing certificate as she has completed Level 4.
Ka pai, Gabrielle, keep up the great work.

This morning's dress rehearsal went very well. The children know their parts and where and when they need to move. We have another practice tomorrow, then on Wednesday morning we'll go over to the Aurora Centre to have a rehearsal with the sound and light people. Please be at school before the 8:45am bell so we can start the rehearsal on time. Costumes will be sent home on Wednesday afternoon.

If you've not yet bought your tickets, call into the office - $8 each. Don't miss out.

Today we celebrated our school's Feast Day - Christ the King. We attended a liturgy in the church, then had a sausage sizzle for lunch - a big THANKS to the Parent Council for this. In the afternoon Room 5 and Room 12 took our scooters and bikes to Westburn Bike Park. We had lots of fun riding around the track then playing on the playground. Thanks Mrs A and Mr B for coming down with us. When we arrived back at school we were treated to an ice-block, A big THANK YOU to the Board of Trustees for this.

Next week we will be having production pracitces every day. On Monday we will attend Burnside High School's production, 'The Twits'. Monday is also library day. Please return library books so that a new book can be issued.

Have a great weekend - may the weather be kind for the Garden Tour.

Silver Mathlete

Congratulations to Bree who has gained her first Silver Mathletics certificate. Ka pai, Bree, keep up the great work.

The Year 2s learnt about static electricity this morning. We rubbed a balloon on a polar fleece then held it near our heads. The girls found that their hair was attracted to the balloon and stood up on end. The boys found that their hair was too short to stand up on end.
You will have to look closely at these photos to see the balloon attracting the hair.

Term 4 Week 4 'Star of the Week'

This week's 'Star of the Week' is Roisin.
Ka pai, Roisin, it's great to have you in Room 5.

The Year 3s began tennis lessons today. They all enjoyed their session. They have two more sessions. While the Year 3s were playing tennis the Year 2s made ooblek. We discovered that ooblek can behave like a liquid as well as like a solid, depending on how hard you push your hand into it. Ooblek is made from cornflour and water.
